Being a coffee snob these days is easy. There are so many options out there that make you a great cup of coffee, but how many of them look good doing it? The Barisieur is a brewing creation from the mind of Joshua Renouf, a Product Design Graduate from Nottingham Trent University, that combines the two- from your nightstand. Part alarm clock, part brewer, all function. The brewing process has been designed all the way down to the sugar and creme storage and placement. Induction heated and assisted by metal ball bearings, the whole process can be customized to your personal tastes. Sleekly designed and finished in wood, the brewing alarm clock looks right at home on the nightstand of

I’ve been into the upright standing workstations lately, but most of these office furniture designs leave a bit to be desired. Given the health benefits of standing over sitting all day, I think it is something I could really get into. I already have a cheap standing desk, but if I had my way (and didn’t work at a non-profit) I would opt for the Locus Workstation by Focal. Not only is it a wonderful design allowing one to stand, lean or sit, it’s just pretty! Of course there are plenty of accessories to gussy up your office workstation and really bling it out if so inclined. So if you are at a chic startup, architecture or design firm, I
Now this is cool. I love modern lamps with a touch of technology, but Angela Jansen and Ger Jansen at Light-Light do it right! Their two offerings (so far) are the Eclipse and Silhouette Floating Lamps, by Crealev (Crealev Levitation Technology). Extraordinarily clean design paired with touch on/off function and of course, the trademark floating halves of the lampshade provide for a near perfect lamp. Combining classic styling with modern technology, the Design Academy Eindhoven graduate designer, and mechanical and electrical engineer developer have managed to define modern lighting. The secret is the electromagnetic technology which separates the two halves of the lamp, leaving the top floating. Exquisite! It’s happy hour somewhere in the world. With a bar globe you can actually back that statement up while you fetch yourself a drink. Having a bar in your office is somewhat Mad Men ‘esque, but having it contained within a vintage globe, it would do just as well in your home library or sunken living room. I’m partial to these since they are made in Italy with 16th century maps using traditional paper gores, and contain illustrated constellations within the inner dome. Bellissimo! Vintage Floor Globe bar – from $725 at barglobeworld.com [ad name=”go-STIL-smbanner”]
Being as i just moved, I’ve been spending a lot of time looking for suitable furniture. My favorites overall have been the tufted leather club chairs I have seen from Four Hands furniture. In a dark, weathered leather, these handcrafted with seven stages of staining, sealing and buffing giving it that authentic aged and weathered distressed look. Upholstered seating you would find in an upscale smoking club in Tribeca, or an ultra chic Southbeach Miami nightclub, these individually tacked nail heads create the tufts in the leather which have been antiqued with linseed oil and talc require 8-14 hours to create the finish. The three pictured are the Conrad Club Chair in Espresso leather from the Carnegie Vintage Leather collection,
Where would be the sweetest place to have a bar? In the sky of course! Well unless you are Richard Branson, that ain’t happening any time soon, so why not bring the Jet to your bar. This wrap-around jet-setting alcohol refueling station is made from the cowling of a 747 passenger jet, giving it that high-flying feel. Pair it with some genuine jump seat bar-stools and you are set. Damn, it’s sexy! Find it on Motoart for a pretty penny. [via chic ecologist]
